Nature is our gardener. Relazioni Simbiotiche
Nature is our gardener. Relazioni simbiotiche (Symbiotic relations) is the title of the solo exhibition hosted in the new space of Galleria Marrocco in Palazzo Venezia (Naples). It refers to philosopher Emanuele Coccia’s thought “plants are our gardeners”, which ironically creates a shift in meaning, overturning the culture-nature dialectic.
The sculptures, as if caught surreptitiously in their habitat (a site-specific display designed for the gallery space), make use of only perceived movements. The work Symbiotic relationships (2019) marks the beginning of this journey composed of subtle sculptures that relate to each other, archetypes that confront each other in a balance of forces. Each of the elements, as in nature, cannot separate its existence from the other and it is in this symbiotic relationship that reality manifests itself.
In this exploded context, the habitat in which they are placed acts as an artificial display of a reality that passes through us every day. Nature is our gardener. Symbiotic Relationships tells a story that looks towards a repositioning of man, a gaze cast towards future cohabitation.
