Duralinea
The site-specific Duralinea intervention, conceived for ViaFarini’s 2016 Academy Awards residency, stems from a reflection on the element that every space is made of: the wall. In the history of art and contemporary art, this element has been and is the protagonist par excellence supporting the succession of works by the most diverse artists. The work deconstructs this element by exploiting the basic physical principle of the lever. With the help of a wedge-shaped fulcrum, the wall is lifted, bent. The surface is thus subjected to an apparent change of state that affects the material at its constitutive level, it seems to take on new appearances. The precarious balance of the element lays bare, through a physical expedient, the fragility of pre-constituted models and the instability of the factors that constitute reality.
